There are many misconceptions circulating about EECP (Enhanced External Counter Pulsation), so I’m sharing this science-backed medical information for clarity:

EECP is a US-FDA approved, non-invasive therapy used in the treatment of:

  • Coronary blockages
  • Angina (chronic chest pain)
  • Low heart pumping (heart failure or low EF)

It is especially helpful for patients who cannot undergo bypass surgery or stenting, or those experiencing frequent angina symptoms.

EECP works by using pressure cuffs placed on the lower body to improve artificial blood flow toward the heart, enhancing perfusion and helping build natural bypasses (collateral circulation).

Scientific and Medical References:Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India and one of the greatest scientific minds of our nation, strongly advocated for EECP (External Counter Pulsation) as a safe, non-invasive, and scientifically proven therapy for heart patients.

  2. US FDA Device Approval

  4.  Mayo Clinic EECP Info
  5. Medanta Medicity, Delhi
  6. Fortis Hospital

While some individuals may call EECP “ineffective” or a “fraud,” such language is scientifically and legally inappropriate. Any treatment should be evaluated based on evidence, not personal opinions.
EECP is not a replacement for bypass surgery, but in many cases, it can delay or help avoid surgery especially in high-risk or inoperable patients.

If someone you know is suffering from recurring heart symptoms and is not fit for surgery, EECP could be a safe and effective alternative worth exploring.
