Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) is a treatment for cardiovascular disease that uses compression of the lower extremities to assist the heart in pumping blood. The compression doctors apply in a rhythmic fashion, along with the patient’s heart rate, and is important to improve blood flow to the coronary arteries and reduce the workload of the heart. It is typically in use as a treatment for angina, a condition characterized by chest pain or discomfort that occurs when the heart is not getting enough oxygen-rich blood. EECP is also sometimes in use to treat heart failure, although the evidence for its effectiveness in this condition is not as strong.
This is generally considered to be safe, although there are some risks associated with the procedure. The most common side effect is bruising or soreness in the legs. There is also a small risk of blood clots developing in the legs, which could potentially travel to the lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism. EECP is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, and most people are able to return to their normal activities within a few days. The procedure typically consists of a series of treatments, each lasting about one hour, given three times per week for a total of six to 12 weeks.
The exact mechanism by which EECP works is not entirely understood, but it is thought to improve blood flow to the heart by increasing the pressure in the arteries and veins in the legs. This increase in pressure is thought to help the heart pump blood more effectively.
While it is not a cure for these conditions, EECP can provide relief and improve quality of life for patients with:
Angina Pectoris: EECP is often used to relieve angina (chest pain) in individuals with coronary artery disease (CAD) who may not be candidates for other treatments like angioplasty or bypass surgery.
Chronic Stable Angina: Patients with chronic stable angina who continue to experience chest pain despite medical therapy may benefit from EECP.
Heart Failure: EECP can help improve the symptoms of heart failure, such as shortness of breath and fatigue, by enhancing blood circulation and reducing the workload on the heart.
Cardiomyopathy: Some forms of cardiomyopathy, particularly ischemic cardiomyopathy, may be managed with EECP to improve blood flow to the heart muscle.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD): EECP can be used to alleviate symptoms in individuals with PAD, such as leg pain, by increasing blood flow to the lower limbs.
Erectile Dysfunction: EECP has been investigated as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, as it can enhance blood flow to the genital area.
Diabetic Neuropathy: Some studies suggest that EECP may help alleviate symptoms of diabetic neuropathy by improving microcirculation.
EECP treatment provides the best angina treatment described as pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in your chest.
EECP provides low heart pumping treatment If the heart rate is less than 60, face conditions such as fainting, dizziness and pain in the heart.
EECP helps decrease the symptoms of chest pain and provide the pain free life.
EECP therapy provide the eefctive high cholesterol treatment so the patient has a ggod and health life.
With the help of EECP therapy you can control the poor heart functioning and get the stable pulse and health life.
With EECP you can get the proper treatment of heart failure include symptoms such as tiredness, sudden weight gain, Irregular pulse.
EECP may be an option when all other treatments have failed to relieve persistent symptoms of heart blockage.
EECP reverses arterial stiffness and helps normalize hypertension with increased secretion of nitric oxide.
